Safety Awareness - Sexual Battery Off Campus

Author: Keith Kopinski

Our partners in the Saint Mary’s Campus Safety Department have alerted the Notre Dame Police Department of three related sexual batteries that occurred in the early morning hours of November 6, 2021.  Three Saint Mary’s students were inappropriately and non-consensually touched by an unknown male at a party at a residence in the 900 block of Corby Boulevard, about ½-mile south of Notre Dame. The suspect was described as a white man in his early 20s, approximately 5-feet 10-inches tall, 190 lbs. with a very slim build and brown medium length hair. He was also described as wearing a red and black long sleeve flannel shirt and a pink Minnie Mouse Christmas hat.

The Notre Dame Police Department has been in contact with our partners in South Bend and Saint Mary’s College about this incident, and we will continue to work together for the safety of our communities.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the South Bend Police Department, and if you are a victim of a crime please report it to local authorities.

Safety Tips:

  • Sexual misconduct can happen to anyone.  Anyone initiating any kind of sexual contact with another person must seek consent and not engage in sexual contact unless consent is given.
  •  All members of this community share responsibility for creating and maintaining an environment, which promotes the safety and dignity of each individual.
  •  Being aware of your own safety and watching out for your friends are important steps you can take to reduce the risk of sexual assault.
  • The perpetrator, not the survivor, is responsible for any instance of sexual assault.  Nothing a survivor does or does not do is an excuse for sexual assault.
