Safety Awareness Information / Off Campus Shooting

Our partners at the South Bend Police Department have alerted the Notre Dame Police Department of a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of September 12, 2021, at a residence in the 800 block of East Washington Street, an area that is about 3 miles south of Notre Dame.  

At this time, there is no suspect information.

The Notre Dame Police Department has been in contact with our partners in South Bend about this incident, and we will continue to work together for the safety of our communities.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the South Bend Police Department, and if you are a victim of a crime, please report it to local authorities.

If you become aware of a disturbance or fight, leave the area as quickly as possible and seek protection.  Once you have reached a place of safety, call 911. If this is not possible, hide and seek shelter in a place where you will be safe until the danger has passed.
