On Monday, July 18, the intersection of Douglas and Ironwood roads will close for improvements just as the stretch of Douglas between Twyckenham Drive and Ironwood Road reopens. (Here are details.) University photographer Matt Cashore took aerial and on-the-ground photos for a preview of the new section of Douglas, which is now four lanes.
Above is an aerial shot of the Douglas and Ironwood intersection taken on Thursday, July 7, 2022; it offers a bird's eye view of the progress made as Phase 1 nears completion. Looking west up Douglas, you can see the road is now four lanes. Looking east, at the bottom of the photo, you can see Douglas is still two lanes. That section will be widened to four lanes in the spring of 2023.
