Ironwood Road reopened to through traffic at its intersection with Douglas Road on Monday, Dec. 5. During construction, the corridor was updated with turning lanes and upgraded traffic lights.
The Ironwood Road intersection is part of the larger Douglas Road reconstruction project. Phases 3 and 4 of the project are scheduled for next year.
When complete, Douglas Road will be four lanes from the toll road entrance/exit to the west through the Indiana 23 intersection and beyond. Additional turning lanes will also be added at the Douglas and Indiana 23 intersections, which experience significant congestion during peak traffic times.
The Indiana Department of Transportation is administering the construction.
